We're Steve and Kathleen — parents, professionals, and founders of SnackSmart. Like so many families, we’ve spent years juggling kids’ practices, appointments, and weekend activities… only to end up face-to-face with the same vending machine dilemma: shelves full of sugary, ultra-processed junk foods in machines that only take cash.

In 2025, when most of us don’t even carry coins or bills, those outdated machines felt like a perfect symbol of a problem that’s everywhere — limited access to convenient, better-for-you snacks.

So we decided to do something about it.

SnackSmart NJ was born from one simple belief: Families, employees, and students deserve healthy options that fit modern life.

Our machines feature a carefully curated mix of better-for-you snacks and drinks — with more than 70% of our selections meeting “Smart Snacks” and Healthy Vending standards. You’ll find brands you know and trust, plus local and emerging favorites that taste great without the guilt.

And because convenience should actually be convenient, every SnackSmart machine is 100% cashless, accepting Apple Pay, Google Pay, and all major cards — no coins, no cash jams, no frustration.
